Errors

Errors use the shared envelope: { "success": false, "error": "...", "code": "..." }.

Status	code	When
`400`	`INVALID_SPEC`	The service definition or stack spec is invalid; `error` names the first problem
`400`	`INVALID_SOURCE`	`registryUsername` without `registryPassword` (or the other way round)
`400`	`INVALID_VARIABLES`	A key is not a valid variable name, or too many variables
`400`	`INVALID_DOMAIN`	Custom domain missing or not allowed
`400`	`INVALID_VOLUME`	The mount path is not a valid absolute path
`400`	`INVALID_NAME`	A project name shorter than 3 characters
`400`	`INVALID_CODE`	Function code over 512 KB
`400`	`INVALID_FILE`	A secret file is not valid base64, is empty or is over 10 MB
`400`	`NOTHING_TO_UPDATE`	A `PATCH` or `PUT` without any field to change
`400`	`CONFIRMATION_REQUIRED`	Deleting a project or environment without its exact name in `confirm`
`400`	`MISSING_INPUTS`	A required stack or template input is empty
`400`	`INVALID_IDEMPOTENCY_KEY`	The `Idempotency-Key` header has the wrong format
`400`	`INVALID_REQUEST` / `REQUEST_ERROR`	Another business rule, `error` explains
`401`	`NO_API_KEY`, `INVALID_API_KEY`, `API_KEY_EXPIRED`	Authentication failed
`402`	`PLAN_LIMIT` (or a specific plan code)	Your plan does not allow it: number of services, CPU, memory, storage, custom domains
`403`	`SCOPE_NOT_ALLOWED`	The key was not given the Container API
`403`	`KEY_PROJECT_SCOPED`	Creating or deleting a project with a key limited to one project
`403`	`FORBIDDEN`	Only the project's owner can do this
`404`	`PROJECT_NOT_FOUND`, `ENVIRONMENT_NOT_FOUND`, `SERVICE_NOT_FOUND`, `DEPLOYMENT_NOT_FOUND`, `VARIABLE_NOT_FOUND`, `DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND`, `VOLUME_NOT_FOUND`, `FILE_NOT_FOUND`, `SCALE_NOT_FOUND`, `NOT_FOUND`	Doesn't exist, or the key can't reach it
`409`	`DEPLOY_IN_PROGRESS`	A deployment of this service is already running
`409`	`NOT_RUNNING`	Restart needs a running service
`409`	`PROJECT_NOT_EMPTY`	The project still has services, VPS, databases or an email plan; `error` lists them
`409`	`ENVIRONMENT_EXISTS`	The project already has an environment with that name
`409`	`ENVIRONMENT_NOT_EMPTY`	The environment still has services
`409`	`SERVICE_NAME_TAKEN`	Another service in the environment has that name
`409`	`VOLUME_TOO_SMALL`	A volume can't be made smaller than the space it uses
`409`	`NOT_A_FUNCTION`	Function code on a service that is not a function
`409`	`REQUEST_IN_PROGRESS`	A request with the same `Idempotency-Key` is still running
`422`	`VALIDATION_ERROR`	The body or query does not match the schema; `error` names the field
`429`	`RATE_LIMITED`	Too many requests, see `Retry-After`
`500`	`INTERNAL_ERROR`	Something went wrong on our side. Retry later
