Cursor
Add the Helipod MCP server and skills to the Cursor editor and the cursor-agent CLI.
Tested with the Cursor CLI (cursor-agent): local and hosted server, key passed from the environment, all tools listed. The editor reads the same mcp.json files.
Requirements
- Cursor (editor or
cursor-agentCLI), Node.js 18 or newer for the local server. HELIPOD_API_KEYin your environment, see Get a key.
Add the server
Put the server in ~/.cursor/mcp.json to use it in every project, or in .cursor/mcp.json inside a repository for that project only.
{
"mcpServers": {
"helipod": { "url": "https://api.helipod.io/mcp" }
}
}In Cursor Settings → MCP, helipod shows Needs login: choose it, sign in to Helipod in the browser, pick the products and reach, and Allow. Cursor stores the sign-in; no key in the file.
A server in a project's .cursor/mcp.json must be approved before Cursor loads it: accept the prompt in the editor, or run cursor-agent mcp enable helipod in that project. Servers in ~/.cursor/mcp.json load without it.
Add the skills
npx skills add helipodapp/mcp -g -a cursorCheck it works
- Editor: open Cursor Settings → MCP (Tools & Integrations in newer versions).
helipodshould show a green dot and its tools. - CLI:
cursor-agent mcp listshowshelipod: ready, andcursor-agent mcp list-tools helipodlists 219 tools. - In the agent chat, ask: "List my Helipod projects."
Notes
- If Cursor reports too many tools across your MCP servers, turn off the Helipod tools you do not need in the MCP settings (for example the VPS or email tools).
- Keep tool approval on in the agent for write and destructive tools; do not turn on auto-run for a key that can spend money.
- To run Cursor on Helipod AI models, see Coding tools → Cursor.
Troubleshooting
The server is in a project's .cursor/mcp.json. Approve it in the editor or run cursor-agent mcp enable helipod.
Cursor was opened from the Dock or Start menu and does not see variables from your shell profile. Start it from a terminal (cursor .), or set the variable system-wide.
Run npx -y helipod-mcp --version in a terminal. If npx is not found by Cursor, use the full path from which npx as command.
